Sr Data Engineer

An exciting AI-driven startup is seeking a  Senior Data Engineer  to join their innovative team. The company specializes in using language models (LLMs) to run controlled, parallelized experiments that enhance user preference insights through tagged messages. This is an exceptional opportunity for a Data Engineer with startup experience to make a significant impact as the first hire in this role, working closely with a team of Software Engineers and reporting directly to the co-founder.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support AI-driven experimentation.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers to integrate data solutions with the company's LLM platform.
• Develop data models, schema design, and optimization strategies for performance and scalability.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and data quality measures to ensure system reliability.
• Work directly with the co-founder to establish data strategies that align with company goals.
• Handle large-scale data ingestion, processing, and management across multiple sources.
• Lead efforts to optimize cloud infrastructure, focusing on cost-efficiency and performance.

• 5+ years  of experience as a Data Engineer, ideally within a  startup  environment.
• Proficiency in  Python  for data processing and pipeline development.
• Hands-on experience with  Google Cloud Platform (GCP)  and its suite of tools (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, etc.).
• Strong understanding of database design, data warehousing, and data pipeline architecture.
• Ability to build systems that scale in a fast-growing environment.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, collaborative startup culture and taking ownership of projects.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including direct collaboration with founders.
