Kuali is a SaaS EdTech business born out of a not for profit foundation. They focus on core areas of the higher education experience: Financials, Curriculum, Research, Cataolog and Business Continuity.
After a restructure they needed to scale up the business and the existing recruitment agencies were not able to provide the quality of candidates required so the scale up process was not going as quickly as desired.
As the team was growing, deep tech skills along side team fit was very important. The culture of the business was strong and so individuals at this stage that didn’t align with their ethos would have changed the dynamics. They initially needed two Senior Software Engineers with fullstack and Java experience.
Initially we spent time with the team, scoping out the roles and the dynamics that already existed. We knew that team fit, as well as the technical side of the role, was important so spent time understanding the types of behaviours and attitudes that the company valued. We then went to market with a campaign to attract the right people, focusing on inclusivity.
We devised a strategy for different platforms and were quickly able to identify a shortlist for the client. After qualifying each candidate we sent over the final 5 introductions which resulted in 2 placements. As we were so successful with the orignal scope, the CTO then approached us for a further 2 roles (Senior Engineers within another team). We have since gone on to work a number of further roles including marketing roles.

Kuali were able to make 4 hires from KDR ( March 2021 to November 2021). We wanted to reduce the number of CV’s the client was receiving as they had been overloaded by previous recruitment relationships, so overall they received 5 introductions for the first 2 hires and 4 introductions for the second 2 hires. Inclusivity is important to the client and we were able to help them increase female representation within the business.
The consultant working the roles became a real brand advocate for the client and created brand awareness within the market place. KDR focused on quality over quantity and by listening closely to the pain points, the requirements and the vision for the business we were successfully able to fulfill all their requirements. We are now sole technical partner to Kuali for all their technical recruitment needs.
